Leadership Portland Spotlight: Debby Thomas

Leadership Portland Spotlight: Debby Thomas

Name: Debby Thomas
Company: George Fox University
Job: Dean, College of Business

Why they got involved in Leadership Portland:

As the Dean of the College of business, I want to become more connected to the Portland business community. I believe George Fox University has much to offer the business community and vice versa.

Why it’s important:

I have a Ph.D. in leadership, so I'm passionate about that topic. I believe that a poor leader can have a negative impact on employees, teams, organizations, and ultimately the community as a whole. On the flip side, leaders who empower others and serve their teams and communities can support flourishing that can be a great blessing far and wide. Leadership matters and the more we can support and promote excellence in leadership in our organizations, the more our community will flourish.

Why Debby loves the Portland region:

The outdoor culture. I love being outdoors and exercising. Daily walks and weekly hikes are my favorite activities in the Portland area.

Fun Fact:

I lived and worked in Rwanda, Africa for 20 years. My husband and I did wholistic community development and we raised our four children there.
